Monica Sahu is a fitness enthusiast and someone who takes her fitness very seriously. Her Instagram account showcases a number of Yoga poses that she has perfected and it is a huge inspiration to scroll through all those images of her working hard to achieve her fitness goals. We at mid-day.com had a chat with the wonderful lady and asked her about her journey into fitness. Here are excerpts from the interview
We asked her what made her turn to yoga as a fitness regimen, Monica sahu said, "I have always been fascinated by the concept of flexibility. My wish of try and replicate even the simplest of poses came to a hault when I could not find a fellow enthusiast at the gym. Most gyms want women to focus on cardio and some even promote weight training but most of them do not focus on stretching. Then I decided to take it as a solo challenge and started leaning from pictures and videos online. Posting my attempted on social media brought a lot of helpful inputs from the global yoga bloggers and that is how Yoga slowly became a regular part of my training."
While Monica chose to use a social media platform to tell people across the world how she was progressing on her fitness journey. We wondered why she would choose Instagram to showcase her struggles and sucess. Monica said, " I had started training to lose weight but after a few months I was bored and wanted to stop training. That’s when a friend of mine, a fellow fitness enthusiast, suggested Instagram for not just inspiration but also to learn new taking ideas from international fitness professionals."
Monica Sahu added, "Eventually, trying out my own ideas and sharing them online because a regular habit. Instagram helped me stay focused when I might have given up. I certainly got a lot of positivity from each and every person who has been a part of my fitness journey especially the unconditional and unfathomable online support from my Instagram Fit Fam."
Some of the poses that Monica showcases on her Instagram look pretty complex, and we asked her how much time it took her to achieve the flexibility to perform these poses, Monica says, "I was naturally very stiff when I began trying Yoga poses but with time and effort it all became easier. With every success, one is even more motivated to take the next step forward. I have been practicing for 3 years now and it has been absolutely wonderful."
When we asked her how Yoga has helped her, Monica Sahu said, "It has also helped me recover faster from injured and even prevent a lot of possible damage. Overall health comes from a happy, positive and dedicated mindset. Yoga definitely helps achieve this level of fitness."
Considering that the defination of beauty and being 'perfect' is firmly linked to one's weight, Monica Sahu has set off on a journey to be fit while breaking through a number of body-image barriers. We asked her what advice she would give to others grappeling with body Image issues and Monica shared her 5 mantras to beat those body image struggles, here they are
Monica says: FITNESS IS NOT A DRESS SIZE -- Health matters a lot more than appearance
Monica says: BODY POSITIVITY DOES NOT MEAN EATING JUNK -- Health is wealth and it must not be compromised at any cost, even for the joy of your taste buds
Monica says: TROLLS DO NOT DESERVE YOUR TEARS -- If someone makes you sad with their harsh words or judgemental behavior, it is best to keep them away from your life.
Monica says: SUCCESS IS OBJECTIVE -- You have every right to focus on what makes you happy rather than what makes others happy
Monica says: TRY AND TRY UNTIL YOUR SUCCEED -- Once you know what you want, do not stop until you achieve your destined greatness.
