Looking their regal best, newly-weds Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh graced their grand wedding reception at Grand Hyatt hotel in Mumbai on Wednesday evening. Taking to their official Instagram handles, the star couple also posted beautiful snaps from their dreamy reception. We must say, the couple looked imperial as they wore a colour-coordinated ensemble, designed by Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla.
Ranveer Singh donned a sherwani with matching shoes, while Deepika Padukone was looking no less than a royal queen in an ivory and gold Chikankari saree and heavy jewellery. The couple was all smiles while posing for the paparazzi.
Talking about Deepika Padukone's outfit, Abu and Sandeep shared, "We are thrilled to create this ensemble for Deepika. She's worn our clothes with a passion for years. Deepika's beauty and grace are ethereal. And she chose Chikan. It is our ultimate love. And her appreciation for finesse and elegance made it her choice too. Ivory and gold do her and the occasion full justice. She is an absolute dream in it."
This breathtakingly beautiful chiffon chikankari ensemble in ivory features a trail and is styled with a demi-sari and sumptuous chadar as a head dupatta. Hand embroidered by the women artisans of Lucknow, the intricate, ton sur ton thread embroidery comes alive as millions of sequins, Swarovski crystals and gold zardozi embroidery enhance and embellish it to perfection. Dramatic zardozi lace borders edge both the demi sari and the chadar. A gold zardozi, resham and crystal blouse featuring a deep neck and delicate floral motifs with bugle bead and pearl tassels offsets the pristine chikankari to perfection.
Ranveer Singh, who is known for his unique fashion sense, was seen in a sherwani teamed up with a long skirt.
At the ceremony, Sufi music played in the background as Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone met and greeted all their guests with huge smiles on their faces.
For the Mumbai reception, Deepika's family was dressed in white while Ranveer's wore black. Before the ceremony, the couple arrived hand-in-hand to pose for camera persons.
Deepika and Ranveer took off for their destination wedding on November 3. They tied the knot in Lake Como, Italy in a traditional Konkani ceremony on November 14, while a Sindhi wedding was organised on November 15, both of which were attended by close-knit relatives of the two actors. After their wedding, the lovebirds jetted off to Bengaluru where they hosted a wedding reception at Deepika's hometown on November 21. Following the event, Ranveer's sister, Ritika Bhavnani, hosted a post-wedding bash for the couple at Grand Hyatt in Mumbai.
The couple will head out on their honeymoon after Ranveer Singh's Simmba's release. After they return, Ranveer will focus on Zoya Akhtar's Gully Boy while Deepika Padukone will prep for the Meghna Gulzar film.
Ranveer Singh took a week-long leave for the wedding in Italy, followed by two days for the Bengaluru reception. Ever since he returned to Mumbai, he has been working on the dubbing to ensure that the film's post-production moves as per schedule.
In fact, you will be surprised to know that, on Wednesday, Ranveer Singh completed a portion of dubbing with Simmba co-star Sonu Sood at an Andheri studio before slipping into the white-and-gold Rohit Bal creation and playing the perfect host at his wedding reception in the evening.
Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone are now set to host another and final reception for their colleagues and friends from Bollywood on December 1.
