What caught Shaheen Abbas' attention in fine jewellery was the intricacy of the workmanship, the timelessness of her family heirloom pieces and the techniques used to craft these pieces. She took up the Graduate Diamonds Program at the Gemological Institute of America and then pursued a course in Luxury Brand Management at ISC Paris Business School.
Shaheen Abbas loves to experiment with colour, cut and casting. Her aim is to use her jewellery to make women feel glamorous and special. Shaheen Abbas' second venture is Flowerchild. Flowerchild is for people who don't want to pick between wearing flowers in her hair or jewels around her neck when they would rather have it all. Shaheen Abbas launched her accessory label Flowerchild with her collection called 'Oro Crudo' which is an ode to the very woman it has been created for. Oro Crudo means raw gold in Spanish. It is an amalgamation of accessories crafted with crushed metal and raw unrefined textures
In a magazine, Shaheen Abbas stated that solitaires are great for reception and cocktail evenings whereas something more intricate like Jadau jewellery goes well with the actual ceremony
Shaheen Abbas says on her website, "An emerald could take you back to the forest of your imagination, a topaz can remind you of the day you lived in the sea near a coral reef, and a ruby can take you back to that special day of love you shared….In a diamond lies the memories of the time."
Shaheen Abbas says that things to keep in mind while selecting the jewellery is the right fit especially with bangles, rings, neckpieces etc. Shaheen Abbas also feels that jewellery needs to be co-ordinated with the colours of the outfit especially if it is being worn in coloured precious and semi-precious stones
Shaheen Abbas advises people to buy gold as the sheen of the gold will never be lost. She says crushed or textured, gold is still glorious and deeply coveted in all its forms. However, she does reiterate that solitaires are must have for any occasion.
