The incident
The actress told mid-day, “A group of eight men forcefully entered my house looking for my fiancé Rahul Raj. They wanted to collect a payment from him, but when I told them he wasn’t at home, they molested me.”

The incident took place at 7 pm last evening, when a group of unidentified men barged into Banerjee’s home, where she lives with her mother. The men were plainclothes, but said they were cops looking for Rahul, who had missed an EMI payment.

Banerjee told them Rahul did not live with her and showed them the door. But the goons abused her, pushed her to the ground and manhandled her.

Banerjee immediately called up the Kandivli police to verify whether the men were indeed cops, but she was told no policemen had been sent to her house.

The police told her to lodge a complaint if she was being harassed by fake cops.

Banerjee told this reporter that Rahul had already paid the EMI, so the goons could not have been authorised to threaten or harass her.

The cops also summoned bank recovery agent, Amit Dalvi, to the police station for questioning. According to him, the EMI payment on Rahul’s car was pending since December 31.

“On December 31, I went to Banerjee’s residence, where I met Rahul Raj. When I asked for the money, he got miffed and started making excuses. When I persisted, he attacked me. After that, I registered a Non-Cognisable complaint against him. I have no link with whatever happened today,” said Dalvi.

Cop speak
“We had asked the actress to come and discuss the case with us. Banerjee said she could identify all the trespassers who misbehaved with her. We are verifying the case and listening to both sides. After that we will decide the course of action,” said an official from Kandivli police station.
