The big surprise was saved until the last minute. Yesterday's media interaction with makers of Brad Pitt-starrer 'War Machine', as part of a Netflix campaign, was supposed to feature Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan. But after the interviews wrapped up, the Hollywood superstar walked in to promote his latest venture and engaged in a tete-a-tete with Rajeev Masand and SRK representing the Indian film industry.

The session began with a clip from 'War Machine', followed by one from King Khan's 'Dilwale' (2015). The contrast between the two was glaring. With a handful of select journalists for an audience, the interview began in earnest with Rajeev playing the host and SRK in his element hogging the limelight from his illustrious co-guest who (probably jetlagged from a punishing schedule of promotions that had him flying down from Tokyo for a single day in India) preferred to be laid back with answers.

The two spoke about their respective careers which began around the same time — SRK's with 'Deewana' (1992) and Brad's with 'Thelma and Louise' (1991). SRK told Brad that '12 Monkeys', 'Fight Club' and 'Benjamin Button' were his favourite Brad movies and also spoke about how Indian origin actors were gaining a foothold in Hollywood, Brad, on the other hand, was at sea when asked if he'd like to do a Bollywood movie.

Brad Pitt repeatedly mentioned he had no talent for the kind of song and dance that Bollywood cinema specialises in. Shah Rukh Khan then went on to show him his very own patented step where he held out his arms wide in a stance that exemplified his king of romance status in Bollywood. Brad tried to replicate that, but it was a half-hearted attempt. "I can't dance," he said.

Brad spoke about turning producer of movies that the studio system in Hollywood was unlikely to entertain. He also recalled his last trip to India to shoot for 'A Mighty Heart' (2007). He admitted that he has been constantly "trying to reinvent" himself and was "lucky to survive his mistakes".
