A history-sheeter had to face the ire of a mob during Durga Visarjan on Sunday, after he molested a 16-year-old in Kalina in Santacruz (E). The accused, who was in an inebriated state, somehow managed to flee the spot, and is currently at large. A complaint against him was registered at the Vakola police station.
The accused, identified as Kaka, touched the teenager inappropriately during the procession. Traumatised by what she experienced, the girl immediately informed her parents who were close by. They managed to get hold of Kaka and thrashed him.
As the music stopped and a crowd started to gather, Kaka seized the opportunity and fled the spot. Despite being chased bya few members of the crowd, he managed to escape their clutches.
An official from the Vakola police station said, “Kaka is a history-sheeter. He was arrested in the past for his involvement in similar cases. We have kept an eye on his residence, and all possible places he is known to visit.” A case has been registered against Kaka under Section 354 (molestation) of the IPC.
