New Delhi: The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) yesterday said that Geeta would be handed over to the family in India only after the DNA tests match. “Geeta has already identified one family as possibly being that of her parents, we will be doing the DNA testing to establish conclusive proof if the DNA test matches, Geeta would be handed over to the family.

If not we have identified a suitable institution where Geeta would be looked after,” MEA official spokesperson Vikas Swarup told the media persons. He added that the members of Edhi foundation would be accompanying her to India.

“On October 26, we will be bringing Geeta back to India. Together with Geeta, we have invited five official family members of Edhi foundation. They will be treated as state guests during their stay in India,” Swarup added.

My respect to Pakistani people has gone up with the story. They took care of Geeta (Hira) better than her own parents. Several 3rd world countries have millions of child labor and these countries do not do anything about such children. This is a glimmer of hope amid many social issues hurting the children of the south east asia- killing of girl child, selling of girl child, using children as slaves to make money, etc.
