Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper Virat Kohli hit his fourth 100 in IPL 9 in less a month -- 25 days to be exact -- on Wednesday!
The 27-year-old has hit a purple patch and is in such fine touch that he managed to battle immense physical pain to script yet another magnificent century to power Royal Challengers Bangalore to an imposing win against bottom-placed Kings XI Punjab in a rain-truncated IPL clash in Banaglore on Wednesday.

Kohli, who had sustained multiple stitches due to his split webbing on left hand during the last match against Kolkata Knight Riders, gestured at it once he reached the three-figure landmark in the 14th over.

Kohli, during his 113-run knock against KXIP on Wednesday, set numerous records in IPL history that look like they will stand the test of time, at least for a while.

With four tons in IPL 2016, Kohli is now the proud owner of the record of having scored the most tons by a batsman in a T20 tournament. He was earlier the joint highest with Australian Michael Klinger, who had scored three centuries in the span of four innings in the Natwest T20 Blast in 2015.

While scoring his fourth ton of the season, Kohli and also became the only batsman to score more than 800 runs in a single edition. He has currently scored a phenomenal 865 runs from 13 matches.
He is the current holder of the Orange Cap.
He has also extended his lead over teammate Chris Gayle’s 733-run mark for the most runs in a single season.
Gayle scored 733 runs for RCB in 15 matches during the 2012 edition.
The other records the RCB captain has smashed this season include being the only player in the T20 tournament’s history to hit four tons in a single season.
Kohli is also the only captain to have score 500-plus runs in three IPL editions, including 505 in 2015 and 634 in 2013. In doing so, the RCB captain broke Mumbai Indians skipper Sachin Tendulkar's record, who had achieved this feat twice -- 618 runs in 2010 and 553 runs in 2011.
Kohli has so far scored 541 runs in eight matches with two centuries and four half-centuries an average of 90.16 and strike rate of 144.65.
Kohli had in 2013 scored 634 runs, which is also a record as the most runs scored by a captain in IPL. He had scored 505 runs in 2015 as RCB's captain. Before taking over as captain of RCB, Kohli had accumulated 557 runs in 2011.
Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Gautam Gambhir and Sunrisers Hyderabad captain David Warner are the two other batsmen to have crossed the 500-run mark in IPL while leading their side. While Gambhir scored 590 runs during KKR 2012 campaign when they claimed their maiden IPL title, Warner was the orange cap holder in 2015 with 562 runs in 14 matches.
Kohli has also broken Robin Uthappa's record (660) for most runs in a season by an opener.
Kohli along with AB de Villiers set the record for the highest partnership for any wicket in the history of IPL when with their 229-run stand against Gujarat Lions. This was also the highest partnership in the history of T20 cricket.
With four century-stands, the duo has also set a record for century stands in the one season.
The 27-year-old has also broken Suresh Raina’s record for most runs by an Indian batsman in T20 cricket in a year. With his tally of 1490 runs in 2016 so far, he has already smashed Raina’s 2010 record of 1042 runs.
Prodigy Kohli has also beaten his mentor Mahendra Singh Dhoni and has gone past Mahi in terms of number of consecutive games he has led a team in IPL. Kohli has now led RCB in 64 successive matches, bettering Dhoni's record of 61.
Kohli though is second on the list, with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) skipper Gautam Gambhir leading the pack with 87 consecutive appearances as captain.
Brendon McCullum, Shane Watson, David Warner, AB de Villiers, Adam Gilchrist and Virender Sehwag have all hit two IPL centuries overall.
The most number of IPL tons -- five -- though still belongs to Kohli's RCB teammate Gayle. But let's see how long that record stays with the West Indian opener.
