Hollywood actors who simply can't stand each other

There are more than enough instances of Hollywood actors openly expressing their dislike for each other

Hollywood actors who simply can't stand each other

Christian Bale and George Clooney

Back in 2009, when an audio clip featuring Christian Bale's F-word-ridden rant directed at the director of photography on the sets of Terminator Salvation got leaked, the incident highlighted the Oscar-winning actor's dedication to his art more than anything else.

However, he later apologised for the outburst. Five years later, Bale is at it again — speaking out the way he feels — as he took up the case of George Clooney's constant problems with the paparazzi in a recent interview.

According to the Welsh actor, Clooney shouldn't be "whining" all the time given his celebrity status. It's pretty obvious that the former Batman won't be rendering an apology this time around.

In light of such animus in Hollywood, hitlist points out memorable incidents where some actors simply couldn't stand each other.

Jon Hamm and Kim Kardashian
Jon Hamm
Don Draper is a man of few words. And so is the actor portraying him. Nonetheless, the handsome hunk doesn't like to mince words. During an interview on the threatening low standards of TV shows, he took a dig at Kim Kardashian for the amount of coverage she gets. According to the Mad Men star, the problem with the small screen is it gives space to those who are famous for being famous. His exact quotes: "Who cares, when it's reduced to just that? You might be a Kardashian and have a sex tape."

Daniel Craig and the Kardashians
Daniel Craig
It's not just the commoners on Twitter who have an opinion on the Kardashians. Even the current James Bond does. The blue-eyed actor apparently finds it incredibly stupid to see the likes of the Kardashians hold a place in showbiz. "Look at the Kardashians, they are worth millions. All I have to do is behave like a fucking idiot on television and then you pay me millions?" asked the English actor. For the record, Craig is one of the highest paid British
actors ever.

Nick Nolte and Julia Roberts

It's quite difficult to imagine Julia Roberts spew raging words against a colleague but that's exactly what happened in 1994. While filming I Love Trouble —ironically an apt title for the feuding leading stars — she barely got along with Nick Nolte. The producers were so frustrated by their unprofessional attitude, that most of the scenes involving the two were shot with body doubles for either. And if you thought the two got over the sour experience of working with each other, then you're mistaken. About a decade later, Roberts went on record and called Nolte "disgusting" while the latter returned the compliment by saying, "She's not a nice person".

Bill Murray and Lucy Liu

Believe it or not, Bill Murray can get nasty! While shooting for Charlie's Angels (2000), the seasoned actor seemed to have picked a fight with Lucy Liu. Apparently, the former couldn't understand why exactly was the Chinese-American actress in the film. According to reports, Murray stopped a scene in the middle to point out that Liu is a terrible actress. His words: "You've got talent … but what in the hell are you doing here? You can't act!" True to her martial arts background, Liu responded with a punch to his face. The two almost had a scuffle on the sets — effectively shunting out Murray from the movie franchise.

James Franco and Tyrese Gibson

Over the past few months, James Franco might have used the social media to give a slightly twisted impression of himself but that doesn't negate his friendly nature — at least professionally. Unless we're talking to Tyrese Gibson. After all, both actors starred in the 2006 film Annapolis and didn't really like each other's company. So much so that Gibson confessed in an adult magazine, "I never want to work with him again, and I'm sure he feels the same way". To be fair, Franco responded to this statement insisting he "doesn't try to be mean to anybody on a movie" but it just so happened that his behaviour on the sets was misconstrued as rude.

Sylvester Stallone and Richard Gere

If you thought Sly Stallone had troubles only with Arnold Schwarzenegger, think again. He didn't get along with Richard Gere either — and vice versa. During the shooting of The Lord's of Flatbush (1974), the two young actors showcased their inflated egos more than their acting chops. There were fist fights — according to some anecdotes — on the set too. Stallone's grudge pertained to his claim that Gere purposely spilled chicken grease on him.

Angelina Jolie and Chelsea Handler

Angelina Jolie comes across as a divisive figure and it's only of late that she hasn't been in the news for the wrong reasons. Well, Chelsea Handler doesn't agree. According to the actress-producer, Jolie's humanitarian causes won't mitigate her deeds from the past. For one, Handler believes Jolie is a domestic hazard. Handler's conclusion: "She's a homewrecker. She is. She can rescue as many babies from as many countries as she wants to."

Amanda Bynes and Lindsay Lohan

In an alternate universe, Amanda Bynes and Lindsay Lohan are leading a perfectly normal life with no publicised ups and downs. Closer to reality, things are different. Regardless, empathy remains a distant word for the two. When Amanda wasn't arrested despite her misdemeadours, LiLo took to Twitter to express her outrage in 2010. She tweeted "Why did I get put in jail and a Nickelodeon star has had NO punishment(s) so far?"

Shia LaBeouf and Frankie Muniz

Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire started off young as actors and have been childhood friends since then. But this distinction can't be extended to Shia LeBeouf and Frankie Muniz. The former child stars can't see eye to eye. It's been more than a decade since LeBeouf has been referring to Muniz in interviews. In a sarcastic tone, the Fury star recently said, "You could have put Frankie Muniz in any of the movies I starred in and they still would be number one."

Jamie Foxx and LL Cool J

If the Al Pacino speech in Any Given Sunday is anything to go by, two actors took it quite literally. Jamie Foxx and LL Cool J's reportedly fought on the set of the 1999 film and some fights got so out of hand that the Miami-Dade County Police had to get involved. The actors exchanged blows too while filming a scene. Later, they forgave each other and forgot the past. Foxx even appeared in Cool J's music video and said, "When you're grown, you don't really have time for all that. When you're young, it's cool to have your emotions on your chest. But we're grown now." Sounds convincing and Zen.

Robert Downey Jr and Terrence Howard

One of the most beloved actors in Hollywood found himself a detractor in Terrence Howard. Robert Downey Jr apparently broke the former's trust with a behind-the-scene deal with the makers of Iron Man. When asked why he didn't return for the last two films in the Iron Man trilogy, Howard claimed: "It turns out that the person that I helped become Iron Man… when it was time to re-up for the second one, took the money that was supposed to go to me and pushed me out." Howard continued to explain that Downey stole his money as he was supposed to be in all three of the Iron Man movies when the movie deal was initiated in the very beginning.
