On October 14, 2015, mid-day had reported on how a 9-month pregnant woman, Sudevi Pal, went into labour in a local train. Sudevi’s cries for help went unheard, as co-passengers chose to distance themselves from the couple.

However, Ansari, who was also travelling in the same compartment, immediately stepped into the shoes of a Samaritan by informing the railway authorities about the incident. Ansari said that he was only carrying out the responsibility of helping a fellow human being in need.
