California based Apple Inc. is going to meet the central government officials in Delhi next week because the global tech manufacturer is willing to start manufacturing iPhones in India itself. Apple feels that the central government will be a big help to the company in this case. Apple will therefore discuss the prospects and possibilities of setting up its manufacturing units in India in 2017.

Apple is asking India for a long list of financial concessions that includes a 15-year tax exemption on imports of materials and components. Apple aims to set up their manufacturing units in India because the tech giant aims to boost India’s business scenario and at the same time sees the country as a fast growing smartphone hub.

Narendra Modi under his 'Make in India' campaign wants firms to manufacture their products within India itself. If the upcoming meeting between Apple and Indian government goes fine and it decides to accept Apple’s request to waive of custom duties, then this will be a big move for Indian economy, where the global tech giant will set up their exclusive manufacturing unit and start making iPhones.
