Now, guess what? The Vasant Vihar pub will fly down to Mumbai and land at Ellipsis for a 10-day pop-up, starting September 16. Guests can try their signatures including Old Fashioned, Gin And Tea and Whiskey Sour (in pic) along with the famous Mood Cocktail, where mixologists whip up a surprise concoction based on your base (whiskey, gin, rum or vodka) preference.
To make it an authentic experience, we hear, the pop-up will offer passcodes for entry along with mixology competitions and infusion labs to formal cocktail-paired menus.

The latest one, out on YouTube on the late singer’s birthday on August 29, has become our favourite. The idea was the brainchild of indie band, Maati Baani. They collaborated with 40 child artistes in the age group of five to 12 from across the world. It took them six months and all this happened over the Internet.
We don’t want to pick our favourites from 20 acts but look out for the suited and booted tap dancers Freddie and Teddie who are beaming throughout, Alisa Sadikova on the harp, Jonathan Carollo who drums up a beat on a washing machine and the melodic voice of Angelica Hale. Listen to it and we guarantee you will have goosebumps throughout.

There’s a crowd behind this bicycle
At the Press Club yesterday, the country’s first crowdfunded electric bike was unveiled. The Spero E-Bike works on an electric battery. It was launched a few months ago by Coimbatore-based jute machinery technocrat S Manikandan on a crowdfunding platform.

The 38-year-old who took three years to build it shared how people contributed even R100 as a token amount, because they were excited about the idea. Made from locally sourced materials, it also imported components like its battery, motor and tyres.
The bike has three models and is available in several colours. It costs between Rs 29,900 to Rs 50,900, which is 40 per cent lower than their market price. The bike is pollution-free while its battery can be charged like a smartphone. Now that’s what we call innovation on wheels.

The coming week promises much excitement for Mumbai’s art lovers. Sotheby’s will stage a programme of events for its clients in Mumbai and highlights from Sotheby’s London auction of Modern and Contemporary South Asian Art will go on view at the Taj Mahal Hotel.
The sale will feature never-seen-before works from private collections in Europe and America, including a large-scale painting of the Deposition of Christ by Francis Newton Souza; an early and rare work by Vasudeo S Gaitonde from a historic Czech collection; and an ethereal Ganesh Pyne canvas work from a Swiss collection.
