Nandita Das plans to release her film, Manto, in mid-2018. The biopic features Nawazuddin Siddiqui as the celebrated Urdu short-story writer, Saadat Hasan Manto.

Talking about the film at the ongoing MAMI film festival in the city, she said, "Editing is my favourite part of filmmaking. That's where you correct the mistakes that you have made. It has been an incredible journey. Hopefully, it will be in theatres mid-2018."
She added, "You can't ask a director how happy he or she is with their film, that's a tricky one. But I know it can't get worse. It can only get better in the post-production."
Working on Manto has been an enriching experience for Das. "Nawaz and Rasika Duggal are wonderful. They are accomplished actors and also incredible human beings," she said.
