Even after a rocking party on Monday night, Sanjay Leela Bhansali is still in the mood to celebrate his National Awards win
Q. What was your first reaction at winning the award?
A. Absolutely surprised. I didn't even know that it was going to be announced yesterday (on Monday). I have totally gone mad since I heard the news.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali
Q. Was it unexpected?
A. Absolutely. I don't expect anything from my films. You can't make a film by expectations. If it happens, you should enjoy.
I think this is all thanks to the hard work that I have put in over the years and the kind of team that I am blessed to have. Like guardian angels, I have creative angels who always help me get the best out of me. There is some kind of creative energy that happens and as I said, most important is the kind of commitment that my team offers. I love my team too much. They understand my vision and fulfil it. I am fortunate. I give them the freedom of expression to ideate. Our meetings are endless debates with no ego involved. Anybody can tick anyone off or give their inputs. I think that's what is helping us a lot.
Q. So you threw an impromptu party....
A. We had a rocking party. I decided to let my hair down and enjoy the success. It was lovely sharing the joy with some of my close friends. We sang and danced; it felt so good. I am still on cloud nine.
Q. So, are you ready to talk about your next now?
A. No, no, no. I am so happy that I am going to be disoriented for two more days. Will talk about it later.
Q. It was recently reported that you visited Salman Khan. Is that true?
A. Yes. Please don't ask me anything more about it.
