Sunny Leone and Ekta Kapoor
Having made her Bollywood debut in 2012, Sunny Leone hit box-office gold only two years later with Ekta Kapoor's Ragini MMS 2 (2014). So, it was only fitting that the actor be associated with the producer's web series, Ragini MMS Returns, in some way. Or at least, Kapoor thought so.
We hear Kapoor was keen on her attending one of the promotional events slated for this week. But, the actor bowed out, citing prior commitments — a move that hasn't gone down too well with the TV czarina.
Says a source close to the development, "Ekta thought Sunny's attendance would add glam value to the show and get people talking about it. However, Sunny wasn't available on the required dates. She is leaving tonight for Los Angeles for the next two months. She wants to look into the functioning of her production house there."
This isn't the first time the actor has turned her mentor down. Leone was apparently also approached for a cameo on the show earlier, which she had politely declined. A Balaji insider informs, "Sunny's decision irked Ekta. Ragini MMS 2 was a landmark film in her career. She should have accommodated the project for the sake of loyalty towards Ekta."
While hushed whispers in industry circles suggest a fallout between the two, sources close to the actor assert that their relationship goes beyond professional collaborations. "Sunny would have been more than happy to promote Ragini MMS Returns, but is unfortunately not available on those dates. Ekta's team understood that completely. There is no bitterness between them. In fact, Sunny is considering collaborating with them on a show and is already in talks with them."
Both Leone and Kapoor remained unavailable for comment.
