We don't sell porn, our servants framed us: Actress Misti Mukherjee

The case of the discovery of 25,000 pornographic CDs from Meera Tower in Oshiwara gets yet another curious twist. Actress Misti Mukherjee claims her four female servants framed their family in the case. Mukherjee claimed that the entire family had gone to celebrate New Year to Goa, leaving only the servants behind, who allegedly stole cash and jewellery.

The actress had installed CCTV cameras inside and outside her flat to keep a track on their movements. “When we returned from Goa on January 2, we found that our belongings were scattered all over the house. When I checked the locker, jewellery and cash worth Rs 1 lakh were missing. The CCTV footage was blank and the cameras hadn’t recorded anything. I questioned the four servants about all this, but they denied any role in the incident,” Mukherjee told MiD DAY.

Two days after finding no leads into the incident, she claimed she was going to approach the Oshiwara police. “Suddenly, police raided my house,” she said. Cops raided the Mukherjees in flat number 1502, and found around 25,000 CDs with pornographic films. Her brother Samarth and father Chandrakan Mukherjee were arrested for sale of the material under section 292 (sale of obscene material) and sections 66 (A), 67 (A), and 67 (B) of the IT Act.

Created diversion
Mukherjee believes her servants complained to the police about the CDs to divert attention from their own alleged crime. The four women have been missing since the day the police showed up at her flat. She further reiterated her claim that her brother was a CD collector (‘Actress’ brother says he only collects, doesn’t sell porn films’, January 17). “He has been collecting CDs and DVDs for the last 20 years.

We didn’t know about this (pornographic) material as we all have separate rooms and no one checks what the other is doing,” she stated. While she says the police supported her, she claims they were misled. “We have lost our standing and prestige in society. My father is a financier for south Indian and Hindi films. We never sold or distributed any such CDs to anyone in Mumbai. We aren’t involved in any such business,” she told this correspondent.

Both her father and brother have been released on bail. The flat belongs to BEST general manager O P Gupta, who had given it on rent almost seven years ago and said he didn’t know about what was happening in his house. Members of the building have asked the family to vacate the flat.
