Days after alleging that his wife suffered a rib fracture during their detention at the Mumbai student protests, comedian Raunaq Rajani has shared a fresh update on her health. Taking to Instagram, the stand-up comic thanked well-wishers for their overwhelming support, revealing that his inbox has been flooded with messages ever since he spoke about the incident. He also shared that his wife, Henna, is now recovering and following medical advice.
In an Instagram post, Raunaq Rajani expressed gratitude to those who had reached out after his earlier video. "Since my last post, my DMs have been flooded with good samaritans sending us kindness and support. I just wanted to give you a huge thank you and tell you that it genuinely means a lot," he wrote.
The comedian added that he had also received several offers of help but had been unable to respond to everyone because of the volume of messages. Giving an update on his wife's condition, he shared, "Henna is resting and following the doctor's advice while she recovers from her rib fracture. I'll keep you all posted as things progress."
Ending the note on a lighter note, Raunaq joked about returning to work, writing, "Contrary to what a few DM trolls seem to believe, I'm not funded by China, so I do actually have to get back to work!"
Raunaq's latest update comes days after he alleged that his wife sustained a rib fracture during the police crackdown at the student protest held at Mumbai's Shivaji Park on July 22. Sharing videos from the day, the comedian claimed that he and his wife were forcibly detained while questioning the police action against protesters.
According to Raunaq, he suffered a neck sprain while his wife initially experienced severe pain in her ribs. Believing it to be a minor injury, the couple did not immediately pursue the matter. However, after the pain persisted, medical examinations reportedly confirmed that she had suffered a rib fracture.
The comedian further alleged that the injury occurred after a police officer shoved and kicked his wife inside the police bus during the detention. He claimed that the couple has since approached the Shivaji Park Police Station to seek registration of an FIR and is awaiting further action from senior officials.
Raunaq was among several public figures detained during the protests, with comedians Abish Mathew and actor Ayesha Khan also briefly taken into custody. His latest post has since drawn another wave of support from fans, many wishing Henna a speedy recovery while urging authorities to investigate the allegations.
