Uorfi Javed, who missed attending Cannes 2025 due to a visa rejection, took to her Instagram Stories to re-address her lost opportunity to walk the red carpet at the prestigious film festival. Earlier today, Uorfi posted an Instagram story calling out the invitation system and stated that unless your movie is being screened at the festival, walking the red carpet is not a big achievement, as brands buy tickets and arrange everything for the influencer.
She said, "Going to Cannes is an opportunity which isn't based on your merit. Brands buy tickets to the red carpet and give them to influencers/celebrities to represent the brand. Individuals can also buy tickets." Uorfi was originally supposed to attend Cannes 2025 representing Inde Wild, just like the other influencers representing their brands.

According to her, the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival is nothing more than a promotional event where celebrities buy their way in. She further continued and stated, "Walking the red carpet is not an achievement, not even for me. It's an opportunity to promote yourself. That's the truth. Here I said it. Unless your film is being premiered at the festival (yeah, then it's an achievement), other than that anyone can do it (if you have money or the brands are ready to sponsor you)."
On May 14, Uorfi Javed posted an Instagram Story to let her followers know why she had been inactive. She said, "I haven't been uploading anything or been seen anywhere because I was going through a phase. My business didn't work. I tried a bunch of other different things only to face rejections. Got an opportunity to go to Cannes through Inde Wild (big, big thank you to Diipa Khosla and Kshitij Kankaria), but as fate would have it, my visa got rejected. Was working on a few crazy outfit ideas. My team and I were very disheartened."
After this, Uorfi asked everyone to share their rejection stories, saying rejection is an opportunity in itself, and instead of resenting the bygone, we should look upward and beyond. Her confidence and positivity earned her empathy and support on her post, with comments like, "Something bigger and better is coming your way" and "When nothing seems to be happening, everything is actually happening. I can relate to you. More power to you, dear Uorfi!"
