Virat Kohli and Izabelle Leite
Indian cricketer Virat Kohli recently made headlines for his social media activity. The cricketer, who is the most-followed Indian on Instagram, liked a picture of a German model, which quickly went viral. While the internet had a field day making jokes about the âlike', Kohli remained silent. Now, his ex-girlfriend, Brazilian model and actor Izabelle Leite, has reacted to a post about his âtaste' in women.
An Instagram page shared a post featuring pictures of Izabelle, Kohli's wife Anushka Sharma, German vlogger LizLaz, and Indian actress Avneet Kaur. Earlier, Kohli had liked a picture of Kaur and later attributed it to the algorithm after it went viral.
The page captioned the post: "Nobody can deny that Virat Kohli's taste in women is absolutely elite." It further read, "From Izabelle Leite to Anushka Sharma⦠elite taste is just part of the brand."
Izabelle noticed the post and reacted, writing, "It's been 12 years and counting. Why can't people get over it?" (with a bowing emoji).
Reportedly, Izabelle and Kohli were in a relationship from 2012 to 2014, before the cricketer met Anushka Sharma, whom he married in 2017.
At a press meet for her film Purani Jeans in 2014, Izabelle was asked about Kohli dating Anushka. She responded, "That's not the reason I am here now. I'm really excited about my movie, and that's all I have to talk about." She added that she had nothing more to say about Kohli. Izabelle is now married and lives in Doha with her husband and two children.
Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma's recent appearance also drew attention, especially after Kohli allegedly liked and then unliked a post by German influencer LizLaz. The influencer later reacted to the controversy and the sudden media spotlight.
Speaking to Hindustan Times, LizLaz said, "I actually felt a bit sorry for him. I was happy that he liked it, but when he unliked it, I felt bad because I don't know how it became such a big story. That was probably not his intention."
She added that she was unaware of the situation until it made headlines. "I woke up and suddenly I was all over the news. People sent me so many articles and messages - it was overwhelming," she said.
Amid this, an old video of LizLaz expressing her admiration for Royal Challengers Bangalore and Virat Kohli resurfaced. She revealed that she attended a match during last year's IPL season in Bengaluru and has been a fan ever since..
