Harry Potter star Evanna Lynch has stepped into a new chapter with Denis Skinner, and her wedding story is every bit as whimsical as one might expect from the actor who brought Luna Lovegood to life. Lynch and Skinner tied the knot at London's historic Wilton's Music Hall, with the intimate celebration reflecting their shared love for vintage charm, nature and all things unconventional.
The couple's love story began in 2021, when Lynch spotted Skinner working as a bartender at a tropical bar in Camden. Dressed in tights, a skirt and a fedora, the Frenchman immediately caught her attention. Lynch described him as a "strange elvish creature - a total fantasy". She kept returning to the bar, even attempting to flirt with his dog in the hope of getting his attention.
A friend eventually intervened, helping the pair connect, and Skinner slipped Lynch a note with his phone number.
Their engagement was almost as unconventional. The Harry Potter star recalled that a heated argument in 2023 unexpectedly turned into a marriage proposal. "That's a terrible way to get engaged!" she told Skinner, before adding that she would be on board if he did it "properly".
Months later, Skinner arranged a surprise proposal around Lynch's birthday. Instead of a conventional venue, he led her to her cousin's allotment, where he had decorated the space with fairy lights and surrounded them with nature.
For their wedding date, Lynch consulted a Vedic astrologer, who advised avoiding a solar eclipse. They eventually settled on August 21 after their preferred August 22 date was unavailable at Wilton's Music Hall.
The venue also carried sentimental value for Lynch, who had previously performed at a storytelling event there. She recalled once having a witch cousin perform a love spell for her when she was single, a ritual that involved her dancing around her living room to Pixies' "Here Comes Your Man".
Lynch opted for a dramatic bridal ensemble featuring a cloud-like vintage skirt from Effy Turner, paired with a structured Moira Hughes corset. Her pearl-dotted veil reflected her love for polka dots, while vegan heels tied into her long-standing commitment to animal rights.
For beauty, the actor went for voluminous hair, dewy make-up and statement lashes. Skinner eventually abandoned his Joker-inspired idea of purple velvet and chose green corduroy tailoring instead.
The couple's first dance was set to Graham Nash's "Our House", chosen for its theme of finding comfort in a shared home. Though Skinner initially attempted choreography, he eventually admitted he couldn't perform it in front of 110 guests.
The celebrations also featured personalised cocktails, a lychee martini inspired by Lynch's first encounters with Skinner and a Chambord bramble recalling his bartending days.
Perhaps the most personal touch came in Lynch's wedding gift to her husband, rather than a conventional ring, she gave him a charm necklace featuring a tooth from his beloved dog. Very Luna, indeed.
