Tom Holland's Spider-Man: Brand New Day has swung past Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey even before its release, registering the biggest opening-day advance bookings for a Hollywood film in India this year. With nearly a week still to go before it hits theatres, the Marvel blockbuster has already crossed the final day-one pre-sales recorded by Nolan's epic, highlighting the franchise's massive popularity among Indian audiences.
According to reports by Pinkvilla, Spider-Man: Brand New Day had sold over 1.4 lakh tickets for its opening day across the PVR Inox and Cinepolis national chains as of Tuesday, July 21, afternoon. The figure has already surpassed the final opening-day advance bookings of The Odyssey in the same chains, making it the biggest Hollywood advance opener of 2026 in India so far.
The achievement is particularly significant as The Odyssey enjoyed a strong theatrical run after its release and was among the year's most anticipated international films. However, Brand New Day has managed to overtake its advance booking numbers while still having several days of ticket sales remaining before release.
The latest milestone once again underlines the enduring popularity of Spider-Man in India. The previous instalment, Spider-Man: No Way Home, emerged as one of the biggest Hollywood successes in the country, collecting more than Rs 265 crore gross at the Indian box office. The film also created a frenzy during advance bookings, setting a benchmark for superhero releases in the market.
Reports further state that Brand New Day is now closing in on another milestone, with advance bookings expected to continue growing until release day. The film has already generated strong demand across major multiplex chains, reflecting sustained excitement among fans eager to see Tom Holland return as Peter Parker.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, Spider-Man: Brand New Day marks Holland's fourth standalone outing as the web-slinger. The film also stars Zendaya and Jacob Batalon, alongside several new additions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
With advance bookings continuing at a brisk pace and The Odyssey already left behind, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has cemented its position as India's biggest Hollywood advance booking success of the year, days before audiences finally get to watch the superhero return to the big screen.
