Still from Drishyam 3
Mohanlal-starrer Drishyam 3 has proven to be a massive hit. Thanks to its association with Panorama Studios and Pen Studios, the film received a massive release outside Kerala as well. The Jeethu Joseph directorial was released in theatres on May 21 and has now completed seven days at the box office. The film entered the Rs 200 crore club with its worldwide collections at the end of Day 7.
On Thursday, Mohanlal took to his Instagram handle to share an update on the box office performance of Drishyam 3. The actor revealed that the film has earned Rs 200 crore worldwide gross in just 7 days. This is a rare feat for Malayalam cinema, considering the industry's comparatively smaller scale.
On its opening day, Drishyam 3 emerged as the second-highest opener in Malayalam cinema. The record for the biggest opening in the industry is still held by Mohanlal's L2: Empuraan.
With this milestone, Drishyam 3 has joined films like 2018, Manjummel Boys, L2: Empuraan, Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, Thudarum, and Vaazha: Biopic of a Billion Bros.
Dulquer Salmaan's production Lokah Chapter 1 was the first Malayalam film to cross Rs 300 crore worldwide. If Mohanlal's film maintains its momentum, it could become the second Malayalam film to cross the milestone.
As the film continues its successful run, Mohanlal took to X to pen a heartfelt note for fans.
The actor wrote, "Drishyam 3 was made with immense love, passion, and gratitude, and seeing that love come back through your response has been deeply moving. Your reviews, your words, and the emotions you have shared mean far more to me than any number ever can. Thank you for watching, for connecting, for feeling every moment, and for embracing Georgekutty and family as your own."
Drishyam 3 marks the return of Mohanlal as Georgekutty alongside Meena, Ansiba Hassan, Esther Anil, Asha Sarath, Siddique, Murali Gopy, and K. B. Ganesh Kumar in pivotal roles.
The film has been written and directed by Jeethu Joseph and is backed by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas.
