Vijay's swansong as an actor is already creating a frenzy overseas. With Jana Nayagan finally set to release on July 24 after months of delays, advance bookings have opened in the UK, and distributors claim thousands of tickets were snapped up within the first hour. The H Vinoth-directed political drama marks what is expected to be Vijay's final outing on the big screen before he fully shifts his focus to politics.
UK distributor Ahimsa Entertainment announced the opening of bookings with an emotional message urging fans to make the film's release memorable. "Years from now, people will ask if you were there. Make sure your answer is YES. This isn't just a film. It's a goodbye to the man who gave us everything," the distributor wrote while calling on audiences to make it "the biggest send-off Tamil cinema has ever seen."
Soon after bookings opened, the distributor claimed that thousands of tickets had been sold in just 60 minutes. "The craze for this one name is just unbelievable," the team wrote, highlighting the excitement surrounding Vijay's farewell film. The movie is expected to witness similar enthusiasm when bookings open in India and other international markets.
The booking frenzy comes after Jana Nayagan finally received clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), ending months of uncertainty. Originally scheduled for release in January, the film reportedly faced delays after objections raised during the certification process led to multiple rounds of revisions and cuts. After nearly seven months, the makers confirmed that the film has been awarded an 'A' certificate.
Production house KVN Productions announced the certification on social media, writing, "See you soon in theatres friends. JanaNayaganCensoredA."
Directed by H Vinoth and produced by KVN Productions, Jana Nayagan stars Vijay alongside Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol and Mamitha Baiju, with Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain and Priyamani in pivotal roles. The film is believed to be adapted from Anil Ravipudi's 2023 Telugu hit Bhagavanth Kesari.
Apart from its star-studded cast, Jana Nayagan carries added significance as it is expected to be Vijay's final film before dedicating himself to his political career. With the release date locked and overseas bookings already witnessing a massive response, all eyes are now on how the film performs when it finally hits theatres on July 24.
