TV actor Ravichandran gives death threats to Kamal Haasan over his comments on Sanatan Dharma: 'Will slit his throat'

Superstar and politician Kamal Haasan is currently facing a lot of backlash over his recent comments about Sanatan Dharma. Amid the flak, he has now received a death threat from a television actor, named Ravichandran, over his recent comments. The veteran actor made a remark slamming the central government's NEET medical entrance exam at an event, making a reference to the Sanatana Dharma. His comments did not sit well with right-wing supporters.

Actor Ravichandran, who has been seen in several television shows, called for Haasan's boycott, calling the latter a "naive politician". Additionally, he also said that he would "slit his throat" for his comments against Sanatana Dharma.

After receiving the threat, the members of Haasan's Makkal Needhi Maiam party reportedly lodged a complaint at the Chennai Police Commissioner's office on Sunday. They even sought protection for the superstar.

Haasan was recently seen attending the 15-year celebration of actor Suriya's NGO, Agaram Foundation, which aims at educating and empowering the underprivileged children. During the event, Kamal criticised the Centre's National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and claimed that it has "crushed the dreams of many MBBS aspirants".

Addressing the doctors on stage, the Thug Life actor said, "When I look at the doctors here on this stage, I wonder we will be able to see doctors like this at next year's event? There's a small doubt. Because after 2017, they have not been able to start such initiatives. Now do you understand why we say NEET is not needed? This law has denied education from 2017 until today."

He further went on to say, "Education is the only weapon that can break the chains of dictatorship and the chains of Sanatana Dharma. Do not take up anything else in your hands; you will not win with it. Because the majority will defeat you." His comments received severe backlash from the supporters of Sanatan Dharma. The Tamil Nadu unit of the BJP also slammed him and called for the boycott of all his films in theatres as well as on OTT platforms.

Notably, Haasan is yet to react to the backlash or the threats he has received.
