Samantha Ruth Prabhu is currently gearing up for the release of her film Maa Inti Bangaaram, which is set to hit theatres on June 19. The actor recently hosted an AMA session on Instagram, during which she revealed that the film, directed by Nandini Reddy, was initially offered to Sai Pallavi.

Sai Pallavi was the first choice for Maa Inti Bangaaram

Sharing a video explaining how she became a part of the project, Samantha said, "I didn't choose this movie, but this movie chose me. The idea behind Tralala is to focus on female-led content, so the initial idea for this film was to pitch it to Sai Pallavi garu. I knew she was very busy and didn't have the time. Then the makers tweaked the film for me, and hopefully Maa Inti Bangaaram works."

Sai Pallavi reshared Samantha's post and wrote, "Maa Inti Bangaaram was meant to reach you, dear samantharuthprabhuoffl garu. Sending you and nandureddy garu the biggest hug and best wishes. And yes, soon."

Meanwhile, speaking about the film, Samantha said, "Maa Inti Bangaaram tells the story of a woman whose strength comes as much from her vulnerability as from her courage. Playing this character and nurturing this film as a producer has been an incredibly fulfilling journey for me. The world of this film is rooted and emotional, with a narrative style that is family-first and slice-of-life in tone, while maintaining its quirky and edgy energy. I'm truly excited for audiences to experience this story and connect with its spirit when it reaches them."

About the Maa Inti Bangaaram trailer

The trailer begins with Samantha arriving at her boyfriend's house, where she is greeted with questions such as, "I think I've seen you before," "What is your name?" and "Where are you from?"

However, she responds with a loaded question of her own: "Do you know who I really am?"

The trailer suggests that her partner, who had been waiting for her for two years, has finally reunited with her. His family members question her about her caste, cooking skills and siblings, making her feel as though she is being interrogated.

She is then introduced to Anusuya, the younger daughter-in-law of the family, who is referred to as "Maa Inti Bangaaram" (the gold of our house).

"A daughter-in-law is expected to have many qualities to be seen as the ideal woman. She should be beautiful, lean, well-behaved, and know how to cook and sing," Samantha's character says before adding, "I have none of those qualities. But I have one quality, I can risk everything to keep my family safe."

The trailer then shifts into high-octane action sequences, showing Samantha taking down villains with ease. At one point, she warns a man, prompting another woman to ask, "Why did you talk to him like that?" Samantha replies, "Be it a hero or a housewife, when the dialogue lands right, it can scare anyone."

The trailer hints that Samantha's character has a mysterious past that she has kept hidden from her present family, involving violence and action-filled confrontations.

Maa Inti Bangaaram is a family action comedy-drama created by Raj Nidimoru and directed by Nandini Reddy. Samantha and Nandini previously collaborated on the hit Telugu film Oh! Baby.
