Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 is undoubtedly among the most anticipated films of 2026. While the first part featured several exciting cameos, rumours suggest that the sequel may have even bigger surprises in store. Recent buzz hints at Shah Rukh Khan joining Jailer 2 for a star-studded cameo. Though there is no official confirmation yet, actor Mithun Chakraborty has shared a statement that has further fuelled excitement around the film.
Mithun Chakraborty, who is part of Jailer 2, expressed his enthusiasm for the project in an interview with SITI Cinema. While naming his co-stars, he said, "Mohanlal, Shah Rukh Khan, Ramya Krishnan, Shivarajkumar." Fans have taken this as a possible confirmation of Shah Rukh Khan's involvement.
While Shah Rukh Khan and Rajinikanth share deep-rooted mutual admiration, they have never shared screen space except for Rajinikanth's cameo in Khan's 2011 sci-fi film Ra.One. In the film, Rajinikanth appeared as his iconic robot character, Chitti.
Interestingly, Aamir Khan made a cameo appearance in Rajinikanth's last release Coolie. The film also starred Nagarajuna as the antagonist with an intriguing cameo by Upendra.
It may be recalled that Superstar Rajinikanth had said in May this year that work on Jailer 2 was likely to continue until December. Speaking to reporters at Chennai airport, he said, "Shooting of Jailer 2 is progressing well. It will be December by the time the film ends."
Jailer 2 has generated massive interest following the phenomenal success of the first film, which emerged as a blockbuster with collections of around Rs 650 crore. Shooting for the sequel began in Chennai, with Sun Pictures officially announcing the commencement of filming on March 10 this year. Anirudh, whose music played a crucial role in the success of the first part, is returning as the composer. The film also stars Mohanlal and Vijay Sethupathi.
Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan is currently shooting for his upcoming release King. The actor was last seen on the big screen in Dunki which was released in theatres in December 2023. King directed by Siddharth Anand has an interesting mix of cast including Abhishek Bachchan, Arshad Warsi, Deepika Padukone, and Raghav Juyal. Khan's daughter Suhana will also mark her theatrical debut with King.
