Actor Tovino Thomas's upcoming Malayalam film Pallichattambi was initially scheduled to release in theatres on Thursday, April 10. However, on Monday, the makers announced that the film's release has been pushed by a week to coincide with Vishu (Kerala New Year as per the Hindu calendar). The makers cited the upcoming Kerala elections as the reason for the delay. The state of Kerala will conduct elections on April 9 for the State Assembly.

Pallichattambi postponed

On Monday night, the makers of Pallichattambi took to social media to announce the new release date. "We are here to tell the story of an extraordinary personality who has been forgotten in the renaissance history of Kerala. Due to the election code of conduct being in force, we are facing technical difficulties in obtaining the censor certificate. Therefore, the film's release has been postponed to April 15, on the occasion of Vishu. We hope to have your love and support with us on this occasion," they wrote.

However, some netizens believe that the delay was influenced by the success of the Malayalam film Vaazha 2, which was released in theatres on April 2. The film, a popular franchise, has been performing exceptionally well at the box office. The coming-of-age comedy recorded a strong opening weekend and is rapidly approaching the Rs 100 crore mark, driven by youth and family audiences. Owing to its success and demand, more screens are expected to be allotted to it.

Pallichattambi trailer

The recently released trailer begins with a voice-over: "He will come to burn that ground to ashes. He will come to cut the nerves of this nation and throw it out. The true master of this place will come!"

We then see a villager saying, "Very soon, we must find an intelligent fighter - no matter where he is or how much it costs - and bring him here, bestowing on him the title ‘Christopher'."

"But where can we find such a person?" asks another.

It is then that Tovino Thomas's character is introduced. Glimpses of his romantic sequences with Kayadu Lohar follow, with her saying, "You seem to have mesmerised my entire village."

Tovino's character, while speaking to an elderly villager, says, "It is only the village that is different. The people and the soil are the same everywhere." The trailer also introduces a ruthless, bloodthirsty cop and shows Tovino's character training villagers in martial arts.

Needless to say, the trailer has heightened excitement among fans.
