A still from Toxic
Yash's latest theatrical film, Toxic: A Fairytale for Growns, appears to be facing a tough run at the box office amid mixed reviews surrounding the film. The Geetu Mohandas directorial had a massive opening on its first day, but numbers have been seeing a dip since then, despite featuring a star-studded cast that includes Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi and Rukmini Vasanth.
Toxic hit theatres on August 26 and was shot simultaneously in Kannada and English, while dubbed in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. Its English version was released in India on September 4, but has been removed from theatres after a week, as reported by Bollywood Hungama.
The version reportedly opened with limited shows across just four cities- Mumbai, Bengaluru, Gurugram and Noida. Rather than witnessing an increase in its numbers over the weekend, the English version reportedly saw a decline in its numbers, with midweek collections falling to just a fraction of its opening-day numbers.
On its release day, the English version of Toxic reportedly collected Rs. 1.38 lakh from 11 shows across four cities. However, collections declined to Rs. 78,774 on Saturday and further dipped to Rs. 70,460 on Sunday, with the film struggling to witness any significant weekend growth.
On Monday, the film saw a major decline in earnings, collecting just Rs. 15,034. The collection continued to see a decline, with the English version of Toxic collecting Rs. 3,125 on Tuesday, Rs. 5,699 on Wednesday and Rs. 4,655 on Thursday.
With collections remaining low and showing no signs of growth, distributors reportedly decided to remove Toxic's English version from Theatres from September 11 (Friday) onwards, ending its theatrical run after just seven days.
However, there has been no official confirmation from the makers regarding the early withdrawal of the English version from theatres. While the English version struggled to witness growth in terms of box office collection and audience, the overall performance of the Yash-starrer continues to be followed both domestically and internationally.
According to entertainment-tracking portal Sacnilk, Toxic has so far registered a total gross collection of Rs 296.60 crore, while its India net collection stands at Rs 248.50 crore.
