Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna recently visited Thummanpet in Telangana to reward students from government schools and distribute scholarships to 180 children, fulfilling a promise made earlier this year.
Ahead of the event, Vijay took to X and shared the names of the students selected for the scholarship scheme. "We are on our way to Thummanpet. The little village where my Father was born. In February, iamRashmika and I had announced the beginning of a little dream of ours."
The initiative, undertaken through the Deverakonda Foundation, aims to support students from government schools across the Achampet region. Photos and videos from the event showed the actors interacting with students, felicitating top performers and encouraging them to continue pursuing their academic goals.
During the event, Vijay addressed students and their families, emphasising the importance of education and perseverance. The actor spent time interacting with the children and congratulated them on their achievements.
"Giving you this small scholarship gift is very small. But I feel it is important for us. I want to be a part of your lives," he said.
The programme benefits students studying in Classes 9 and 10 across government schools in the region and is designed to ease financial burdens while encouraging academic excellence.
Rashmika Mandanna accompanied Vijay during the visit and was seen interacting with students and parents. The actor encouraged children to remain focused on their studies and work towards achieving their dreams.
"We decided that we would begin it from Achampet and Thummanpet, which is our father-in-law's village. Today, I am standing in front of you and talking to you as Rashmika Mandanna Deverakonda. I am very excited," she said.
The event marked a significant milestone for the scholarship initiative, which aims to support students from dozens of government schools in the Achampet division.
Shortly after the event, Vijay shared glimpses from Thummanpet on X and said, 'See you all again in 2027' as he celebrated the 180 scholarship recipients. The actor also reiterated his hope of taking the initiative beyond his village and reaching students across Telangana in the years to come.
