Maharashtra: 15-year-old boy falls on metal railing while playing football in Thane; dies

A 15-year-old boy died after a tragic accident while playing football near his home in Kalyan in Thane district of Maharashtra, police said on Wednesday, reported the PTI.

The deceased has been identified as Kaksh Navnath Patil.

According to police, the incident occurred on Tuesday evening when the boy was playing football with other children near his residence. He reportedly lost his balance while running and fell onto an adjacent metal railing, which pierced his left chest, as per the PTI.

Succumbed to injuries

Family members immediately rushed him to a hospital in Kalyan. Despite being treated in the intensive care unit, doctors declared him dead at 10:45 pm due to severe internal bleeding, the news agency reported.

An officer from Khadakpada Police Station said that an accidental death report has been registered. Police confirmed that there is no suspicion of foul play, as stated by the family.

An investigation is underway to complete formal procedures, said the official.

Boy attacks woman during theft attempt

Meanwhile, in an another incident, a 13-year-old boy has been apprehended for allegedly seriously injuring a woman during a theft attempt in Murbad area, police said on Wednesday, reported the PTI.

According to officials, the incident took place on Monday night when the boy, a school student, allegedly broke into the home of a 55-year-old woman with the intention of stealing.

The situation escalated when the woman, a teacher by profession and working at a different school, returned home and found the boy inside.

Sharp weapon used in attack

The police said that the woman confronted and reprimanded the boy, following which he allegedly attacked her with a sharp weapon, stabbing her multiple times, according to the PTI.

Hearing her screams, neighbours rushed to the spot and overpowered the boy. He was later handed over to the police.

The injured woman has been admitted to a nearby hospital and is reported to be in a serious condition.

Inspector Sachin Hundlekar from Murbad Police Station said the boy has been booked for attempted murder and has been sent to a remand home, as per the PTI.
