The Mira-Bhayandar, Vasai-Virar Police Commissionerate in Maharashtra on Friday said that it destroyed seized narcotic substances worth over Rs 29.76 crore as part of a statewide campaign against drugs. The action was taken under the supervision of the Anti-Narcotics Material Destruction Committee.

Acting on the orders of the Special Inspector General of Police, Anti-Narcotics Task Force, Maharashtra State, Pune, the drive covered narcotics seized in 27 cases registered under the NDPS Act between 16 January and 30 September 2025, an official said.

According to officials, the destroyed contraband included ganja, charas, mephedrone, heroin, ephedrine, cocaine, cough syrup bottles, alprazolam tablets, and tramadol tablets -- weighing a total of 240 kg 420 grams.

"The estimated market value of the drugs is Rs 29,76,46,450," said an official.

The narcotics were disposed of in an environmentally safe manner at Mumbai Waste Management Limited, Taloja MIDC, Panvel, Raigad district in Maharashtra.
