The Mumbai Police have registered a case against Sharad Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP SP) MLA Rohit Pawar for allegedly obstructing public servants in discharging duty after he shouted at a policeman, an official said on Sunday, reported the PTI.

Rohit Pawar, the grandnephew of NCP (SP) head Sharad Pawar, got engaged in a heated exchange with a policeman at Mumbai's Azad Maidan police station on Friday, according to the PTI.

The incident unfolded after Rohit Pawar had gone to the Azad Maidan police station along with NCP (SP) MLA Jitendra Awhad to meet an injured party worker following a clash in the Maharashtra Vidhan Bhavan building between supporters of Awhad and BJP legislator Gopichand Padalkar on Thursday.

After the clash, members of both the groups were detained inside the Vidhan Bhavan and were eventually handed over to the police.

During the visit to the police station, Rohit Pawar was seen shouting at a sub-inspector in Marathi, "Keep your voice down, keep your voice down. If you raise your hand, I will teach you a lesson," as per the PTI.

Based on a complaint, a case has been registered against Rohit Pawar for allegedly obstructing public servants in discharging duty, an official said.

Rohit Pawar slams NCP as video shows minister playing game on phone in assembly

Meanwhile, Rohit Pawar on Sunday criticised the ruling NCP faction, saying it is unable to function without consulting the BJP, by posting a purported video of Maharashtra Minister Manikrao Kokate playing a game on his mobile phone in the state assembly, the PTI reported.

Rohit Pawar made the remark in a post on X and shared a purported video of NCP leader and state Agriculture Minister Kokate playing a game on his mobile phone in the state legislative assembly.

"The ruling NCP faction is unable to function without consulting the BJP, which is why even as there are several issues related to agriculture pending and eight farmers committing suicide daily in the state, the agriculture minister, who has no work, appears to have time to play rummy," the NCP (SP) legislator wrote in the post.
