Mumbai Police arrest 22-year-old for stabbing Ghatkopar car dealer to death in road rage incident

A 22-year-old man was arrested on Monday afternoon for the brutal murder of a biker during a road rage incident in the Ghatkopar area of Mumbai. The arrest was made by the Pant Nagar Police with support from the local crime branch, after the accused, Suraj Jaiswal, was traced to a hideout in the Vikhroli area, where he had been hiding.

The crime took place on May 24 near the Vikhroli Traffic Chowky, which falls under the jurisdiction of Pant Nagar Police Station.

The victim, identified as Zeeshan, was a second-hand car dealer and a resident of the Parksite area in Vikhroli.

Around 2.30 pm, Zeeshan travelling with friends in a car towards Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) via Kurla when an argument broke out between him and Jaiswal, who was on a two-wheeler.

According to eyewitnesses, the verbal spat escalated quickly. In a sudden act of violence, Jaiswal allegedly pulled out a large knife and stabbed Zeeshan multiple times. Zeeshan collapsed on the spot and succumbed to his injuries before help could arrive. Jaiswal and the woman who was seated pillion on the bike fled the scene immediately after the attack.

A case of murder was registered at Pant Nagar Police Station, and a panchnama was conducted at the scene. Zeeshan's body was sent for post-mortem, following which investigators began scanning CCTV footage and questioning locals to identify the accused.

After getting leads in the case, Mumbai Police tracked Jaiswal to Hariyali Village in Vikhroli. He is currently in police custody, officials confirmed.
