The Maharashtra Cyber department has registered a First Information Report (FIR) against stand-up comedian Pranit More and two others over alleged obscene and objectionable content circulated on social media platforms.
The case also names Himanshu Jangra and Dr Sejal Pawar, along with other unidentified individuals involved in the publication and dissemination of the content, police officials said.
According to officials, the action stems from videos and clips shared on platforms such as YouTube and Instagram in connection with a programme hosted by Pranit More.
The officials said the content allegedly included obscene, offensive and derogatory remarks related to women, consent and deceased persons, attracting provisions of criminal law.
Police stated that one of the clips featured remarks by Himanshu Jangra suggesting entitlement to physical intimacy in exchange for money spent on a date.
Officials said this portrayed women in a derogatory manner and trivialised issues of consent and dignity.
Another clip allegedly showed Dr Sejal Pawar making offensive comments about deceased male bodies and medical cadavers used for educational purposes.
The officials said the remarks were disrespectful to the dignity of the dead and violated accepted standards of public decency.

According to officials, the material was allegedly used to increase audience engagement and generate revenue through online monetisation.
Maharashtra Cyber has issued summons to Pranit More, Himanshu Jangra and Dr Sejal Pawar, directing them to appear for questioning and record their statements.
Officials said the investigation is ongoing and further legal action will be taken against all persons found involved in the case.
The officials added that the matter is being examined under relevant provisions of criminal law, and further developments are expected as the inquiry progresses.
