According to officials, nearly 400 personnel, including Mumbai Police, Railway Protection Force (RPF), and Government Railway Police (GRP) jawans, will be deployed during the demolition drive. Pics/Satej Shinde

Fire brigade teams, ambulances, and barricading arrangements will also remain stationed at key locations as precautionary measures

Officials have asked all concerned departments and security teams to remain on alert in anticipation of any disturbance or crowd mobilisation during the operation

Earlier this month, the Bombay High Court had reportedly permitted Western Railway to continue its demolition drive against unauthorised structures in the Garib Nagar slum area near Bandra railway station. However, the court had directed authorities to protect the rights of slum dwellers declared eligible under surveys conducted in August 2021

A major demolition drive has been planned between May 19 to May 23

Residents of Garib Nagar were on Monday night seen securing their belongings ahead of the demolition drive

Situated near Bandra Railway Station, Garib Nagar is a densely populated slum housing a large number of residents
