Mumbai Police and Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) stepped up security checks at several important locations across the city
At Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), the Government Railway Police (GRP) and BDDS personnel conducted intensive searches across local train platforms and trains. The BDDS also deployed its sniffer dog Sasha to check the railway premises and coaches as part of the security exercise
The heightened security comes ahead of Independence Day celebrations on August 15, when security agencies typically increase surveillance at crowded public places, transport hubs and government installations
Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation and have increased security measures at sensitive locations across Mumbai as a precaution
Searches were also carried out outside the BMC headquarters in south Mumbai following the threat. Security personnel inspected the premises and surrounding areas as a precautionary measure
