IMD has issued a red alert for the city, indicating 'heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places with extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places'

The red alert will remain in place for Tuesday, too, and applies to Mumbai's neighbouring districts as well

The Chembur Fire Station area received 140.80 mm of rainfall in the four hours starting 8 am on Monday

The Sion area had received 58.5 mm of rainfall during the same period

The heavy rainfall has brought normal life to standstill in Mumbai

The municipal commissioner has directed all civic departments to remain on high alert
