Mumbai recorded 93.96 mm of rainfall from 8.30 am to 3.30 pm on Monday. This entire season, the city has recorded a total of 2,010.46 mm of rainfall
The downpour led to traffic snarls across the city, including at Eastern Express Highway (in pic)
IMD has issued a red alert for the city, indicating 'heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places with extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places'
The red alert will remain in place for Tuesday, too, and applies to Mumbai's neighbouring districts as well
The Chembur Fire Station area received 140.80 mm of rainfall in the four hours starting 8 am on Monday
The civic body has appealed to Mumbaikars to step out only if absolutely necessary. In case of emergencies or for official information, residents can contact the BMC’s main control room helpline at 1916
Meanwhile, the heavy rainfall has also exposed the civic body's shoddy work and tall claims of making Mumbai pothole-free. Potholes have surfaced in Chembur following Monday's downpour
