BJP in West Bengal

The BJP secured a decisive mandate in West Bengal, winning 207 seats in the 294-member assembly and ending the 15-year rule of the Trinamool Congress.

The BJP is currently part of the ruling alliance in Maharashtra, sharing power with the Shiv Sena led by Eknath Shinde and the Nationalist Congress Party.

PM Modi hails BJP's performance

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday evening praised the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) strong performance in West Bengal and Assam, thanking voters and party workers for their support.

In a post on X, PM Modi described the results as a reflection of people's faith in development and good governance.

PM Modi said the BJP's success in West Bengal would not have been possible without the efforts of its workers over several generations.

He acknowledged their hard work on the ground, saying they had overcome challenges and consistently promoted the party's development agenda.

Referring to the West Bengal Assembly elections, PM Modi said the results would be remembered for years to come.

He said the people had delivered a strong mandate in favour of the BJP and its governance model.

While addressing party workers at the BJP headquarters in Delhi, PM Modi described the day as "historic" and "unprecedented".

He said the results reflect public trust in democracy and in what he called the "politics of performance".

PM Modi highlighted the importance of unity, referring to the vision of "Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat".

He said the election outcome represents confidence in development-focused governance and the country's democratic system.
