Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi during his first official visit after taking office, triggering major political buzz. During the 20-minute meeting, Vijay raised key Tamil Nadu issues, including the controversial Mekedatu dam project proposed by Karnataka. He urged the Centre not to approve the project, warning it could affect Tamil Nadu’s water supply and violate Cauvery Tribunal and Supreme Court rulings. Vijay also requested permission for Tamil Thai Vazhthu to be played at the start of government events amid debate over the Centre’s Vande Mataram directive. He pushed for a DRDO airborne systems facility in Tamil Nadu. The meeting is being viewed as Vijay’s first major national-level political engagement since becoming Chief Minister.
