S. Jaishankar and Sergey Lavrov previously met in Johannesburg this February, where they focused on the progress of bilateral cooperation between India and Russia

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi in Brazil. Both were in Rio de Janeiro to attend the 17th BRICS Summit, which Brazil hosted

Meanwhile the Summit, brought together the leaders of its original member states: Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. Moreover, the summit also included new members: Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, the UAE, and Indonesia

While, addressing the BRICS Session on Peace and Security, PM Modi highlighted the Pahalgam terror attack as a stark reminder of terrorism's threat to global peace, calling for international solidarity. He emphasized that this attack, a blow to India's "soul, identity, and dignity," proves terrorism is humanity's "most serious challenge"

Prime Minister Modi also highlighted on the BRICS's expansion, including Indonesia's recent inclusion, as a model for the bloc's adaptability, reform, and evolving global role
