A massive landslide has struck Nepal’s Darchula district, partially blocking the Chaulani River and triggering a fresh warning for communities downstream. Dramatic footage shows huge amounts of earth and debris sliding down the mountainside in the Bhattar area of Api Himal Rural Municipality. Authorities warn that continued landslides could completely obstruct the river, potentially creating a temporary reservoir and causing a sudden surge of water if the debris gives way.
