In the Asia Cup 2025, Bangladesh is all set to lock horns against Afghanistan at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium.
It will be an all-important clash for the "Bengal Tigers" as they will be playing their third match of the ongoing continental tournament. So far in two matches, they have registered a victory in one match and also suffered a loss in the second match.
Ahead of the match, Bangladesh's players will be eyeing new feats for their side in the shortest format of the game.
During the match, skipper Litton Das will be aiming to dethrone legendary Shakib Al Hasan on the list of the most run-scorers for Bangladesh in the T20Is.
Das is falling short of just 28 runs from surpassing Shakib to become the leading run-scorer for Bangladesh in the format's history. So far, in 112 matches for the side, Das has scored 2524 runs, whereas Shakib is currently enjoying the top spot on the list with 2551 runs in 129 T20Is.
Star pacer Mustafizur Rahman will also be eyeing Shakib's record for the most wickets for Bangladesh in T20Is. Having played 115 T20Is for the side, Rahman has 143 wickets is falling short of just six wickets to equal the tally of wickets tally of Shakib (149).
If Rahman manages to register six wickets, he will also break the tie with Shakib for the most five-wicket hauls for the side. So far, Shakib and Rahman both have two five-wicket hauls each to their names.
On the other hand, Taskin Ahmed will also be aiming to achieve a new feat in the format. He requires just four wickets to complete his tally of 100 scalps in T20Is. IN 79 matches, he has registered 96 wickets to his name. If Taskin manages to claim these four wickets in today's match, he will then become just the third Bangladesh player to achieve the feat of completing 100 T20I wickets; above him are Shakib and Rahman.
