Virat Kohli once again starred in a successful run chase as he scored an unbeaten 105 to guide Royal Challengers Bengaluru to another win over Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2026.
The Indian batting star was coming into the match after registering two consecutive ducks in his previous outings, but showed no signs of pressure as he dominated the KKR bowling attack.
Kohli smashed 105 not out off 60 balls, including 11 fours and three sixes, to help RCB chase down a target of 193 in Raipur.
Kohli says âpressure is a privilege'
Speaking after the match, Kohli said he enjoys batting under pressure and believes such situations help players improve their game.
"The celebration wasn't a big one because we know the importance of points. There's a reason why people say pressure is a privilege. Good pressure always makes you improve your game. You go a level up, you keep improving your game," Kohli said during the post-match presentation.
He admitted he was slightly nervous at the start after his recent struggles with the bat, but focused on playing risk-free cricket.
"I was nervous; I just wanted to get off the mark. My positions at the crease, not trying anything extravagant, finding the gaps, staying in the present - I was able to back my game and play risk-free cricket," he added.
âI just love batting,' says Kohli
The former RCB captain also reflected on his long journey in cricket and his passion for batting.
"All these factors were very pleasing for me. I just love batting. What an honour to be playing at this level. This is all I have done all my life. I want to make the most of every day. You build your character," Kohli said.
After the victory, RCB captain Rajat Patidar said he was pleased with the team's overall performance and credited different players for stepping up at crucial moments during the tournament.
"It feels great. We have played well in the tournament, and everyone has come in at different stages and done their job for the team. We are taking it one game and one step at a time," Patidar said.
Patidar satisfied after restricting KKR
Patidar was particularly happy with the bowling effort, especially after KKR got off to a strong start in the first 10 overs.
"Very satisfied. After 10 overs, the way we controlled their innings and restricted them to 192 after their start is a good sign for us," he added during the post-match presentation.
