The Mumbai Indians (MI) are all set to lock horns with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the IPL 2026 match on Wednesday at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Ahead of the match, legendary Team India cricketer Sunil Gavaskar said that the "Paltan" needs to secure wins in almost all the matches.

"MI now need to win every game from here, and they have the capability to do that. It's just about things clicking for them," he said on JioStar.

In the previous clash against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), the Hardik Pandya-led men suffered a defeat by a huge margin of 103 runs. Following the loss, the former cricketer said that such defeats can hurt the team's qualification chances to the playoffs.

"The recent loss, especially getting bowled out for 100-odd against CSK, was disappointing. Such heavy defeats can hurt them later, particularly in a tight race for the fourth playoff spot," said Gavaskar.

The "Men in Blue and Gold" are placed in the ninth position on the points table. Having played seven matches, they have managed to secure wins in just two games and suffered losses in five matches. They have a net run rate (NRR) of -0.736 and four points.

The Sunrisers are also placed in the fourth position on the points table. Having played eight matches, the "Orange Army" has won five games and suffered defeats in three matches. The Sunrisers also have a net run rate (NRR) of +0.815 and 10 points.
