Speaking to reporters after the conclusion of the first day's play of a Ranji Trophy match, he said, "No selector said this in particular, but when I was with the Indian team, I only heard that they are looking at me more for the Indian conditions".
He then spoke about his centuries in the intra-squad matches in South Africa and England to underline his arguments.
"But still I have a question that when I went to <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/article/sa-vs-ban-tests-anrich-nortje-returns-to-south-africa-squad-for-series-against-bangladesh-23658140" rel="nofollow">South Africa</a>, I made a hundred against the Indian team from 60 balls (off 63 balls) and when I went to England and I scored hundred runs in 60 balls (101 off 76 balls)," said Sarfaraz.
However, the right-handed batsman stated that the selection is the management's call and his job is to play cricket.
"So, it's not that I have not scored runs outside (of India). I have scored runs. It's alright, it's their lookout, it's their perspective. My job is to play cricket," he added.
So far, the 29-year-old cricketer has represented <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/article/ind-vs-nz-t20is-quite-satisfying-that-we-won-the-series-overseas-team-india-impact-player-naman-dhir-23658127" rel="nofollow">Team India</a> in six Test matches and has garnered 371 runs. With a top score of 150 runs, the right-handed batsman also has three half-centuries and a ton to his name.
Team India will soon engage in the two-match Test series against New Zealand. <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/article/ind-vs-nz-tests-team-india-wicketkeeper-batsman-rishabh-pant-to-undergo-second-fitness-test-ahead-of-series-23658133" rel="nofollow">Wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant</a> has been given another opportunity to clear his fitness test ahead of the upcoming Test series against New Zealand.
Earlier, he failed to pass the assessment at the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru, according to Cricinfo.
