In the Tri Nation A Series match against Sri Lanka, Team India's skipper Tilak Varma won the toss and elected to bat first at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in Dambulla.
Opening the innings, Team India's wicketkeeper-batsman Prabhsimran Singh departed early after scoring just two runs in 11 balls. Fellow opening batsman Vaibhav Sooryavanshi managed to score 14 runs in 12 balls, with the help of three boundaries.
Priyansh Arya delivered a run-a-ball knock. Facing 32 balls, he scored 32 runs, including four boundaries and a maximum. Ruturaj Gaikwad smashed a glorious century. Having faced 114 balls, the right-handed batsman garnered 101 runs, laced with six boundaries and three maximums. His century came after a lean patch during the concluded IPL 2026.
Skipper Varma registered 60 runs in 97 balls, which included two boundaries and a maximum. Ayush Badoni also accumulated 24 runs in 18 balls, with the help of two boundaries.
Suryansh Shedge and Anukul Roy stayed unbeaten. Facing 14 balls, Shedge smashed 26 runs, including a boundary and two maximums, whereas Roy scored one run in two balls.
Sri Lanka's Mohamed Shiraz returned with the figures of two wickets for 67 runs in nine overs. Chamika Karunaratne, Garuka Sanketh, and Wanuja Sahan also claimed one wicket each. Ravindu Fernando, Sahan Arachchige, and Vijayakanth Viyaskanth went wicketless in the Tri Nation A Series match against Team India.
On the other hand, India's senior men's team are busy in the bilateral series against Afghanistan. Shubman Gill-led men have secured a victory by an innings and 300 runs in the one-off Test match against the Afghans.
Both teams will now engage in a three-match ODI series, which is all set to kick off from June 13, with the first game scheduled to be played at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala. The second ODI match between the teams will be played on June 17 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium B Ground in Lucknow, followed by the third game on June 20 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
