Teenager Max Dowman propelled Arsenal closer to the English Premier League title with a stellar display in their 2-0 win over Everton on Saturday. Dowman (16 years, 73 days) also became the league's youngest goalscorer, inheriting the title from James Vaughan (16 years, 270 days).

Arsenal struggled to break down Everton until the teenage substitute turned the game in the final moments. Viktor Gyokeres broke the deadlock in the 89th minute, with a helping hand from Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford who flapped at Dowman's cross. Dowman then ran the length of the pitch to slot into an empty net after Pickford had come up for an Everton corner in stoppage time.

Mikel Arteta

"He changed the game every time he got the ball. He made things happen and we looked like more of a threat. To do it at that age, in this context, with the pressure and expectations to win the game, it's just not normal," said Arsenal boss Arteta.
