Erling Haaland's historic goal gives City three points

Erling Haaland reached a major personal milestone by scoring the 300th goal of his club career during Manchester City's 1-0 away victory over Coventry City. His 26th-minute header sealed a third straight Premier League win for City and took them to the top of the table. The strike marked his 165th goal in City colours, adding to impressive earlier tallies at Borussia Dortmund, Red Bull Salzburg, and Molde.

India dominate against Pakistan

India's women's cricket team maintained an immaculate record in the Women's Asia Cup with a seven-wicket victory over arch-rivals Pakistan in Dubai. Young left-arm spinner Shree Charani led the charge with an outstanding 3/7 spell, bowling Pakistan out for just 55. Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur celebrated by leading her country in a record 150th T20I match by scoring the winning runs in just 8.4 overs, securing six points from three group matches.

Zheng Qinwen's miraculous comeback at US Open

Olympic champion Zheng Qinwen produced a miraculous comeback to defeat 22nd seed Madison Keys 1-6, 7-6 (3), 7-5. Trailing 5-0 in the final set, Zheng claimed seven consecutive games to reach the fourth round. Meanwhile, two-time champion Naomi Osaka overcame a late deficit against Elise Mertens to win 6-3, 3-6, 7-5, advancing alongside Alexander Zverev, who survived a gruelling five-setter against Lorenzo Sonego.

Pakistan's cricket chaos

The Pakistan Cricket Board is forming an inquiry panel to investigate batter Imam-ul-Haq over his calf injury sustained during the second Test against England. Reports indicate Imam could face a ban of up to two years if found guilty of exaggerating symptoms to avoid playing, revisiting similar allegations from a previous tour.

BCCI 's successful review meeting

Top BCCI officials, head coach Gautam Gambhir, and T20I skipper Shreyas Iyer convened at Mumbai headquarters for a high-level review. The meeting addressed recent white-ball defeats in Ireland and England while finalising squad preparation for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Afghanistan in New Delhi.
