Yuva Sena chief Aditya Thackeray’s ‘pet project’ to bring the Humboldt Penguins to Mumbai has come back to bite him with the NCP releasing posters across the city, targeting the youth leader for the death of the female penguin at the Byculla Zoo on Sunday morning.

The issue is now taking on political overtones with Sena leaders going on the defensive to protect the tiger cub.

The NCP on Tuesday released satirical posters across the city, asking, “Who was going to take responsibility for the penguin’s death?”  The posters, which took a dig at Aditya, were put up at the bus stop near Byculla Zoo, Mantralaya, the Shiv Sena Bhavan, and Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray’s residence Matoshree in Bandra. As soon as the posters were put up, Shiv Sena workers were seen tearing them down.

Thackeray junior had spearheaded the project to bring the penguins to the Mumbai zoo from Seoul, South Korea. His dream became reality, when the tiny colony of penguins was transported to city in June this year.
